We are getting closer to the middle of winter and it’s becoming increasingly hard to drag ourselves out of bed in the dark mornings. As winter goes on, we slow down and have less physical activities. We indulge ourselves in sugary and carbohydrate rich foods; most of the time, we just want to stay in bed and enjoy the warmth instead of being outdoors exposed to sunlight, or cleaning the house. This is when ‘winter fatigue’ starts!
We are told that there are ways to charge our energy and get us through the ‘winter mess’: to keep exercising, have a healthy diet, have a healthy home environment. But it’s all a ‘chicken-and-egg’ thing – the more fatigued we are, the less energy to keep us up to the ‘right’ things! Sure you’ll agree. But if there is a point that we may turn the entire negative circle into a positive one, will you want to have a try? The solution is simple: give your body the support it needs, from USANA products such as CoQuinone and Rev3 Energy Pack. They are a great combination for boosting your energy levels without the crash and burn effect.

CoQ10 plays a critical role in energy production in the cells. How? The energy that every cell needs to function is produced through a complex process in the mitochondria, an organelle within the cell, often called the cellular powerhouse. Cells store energy in a molecule called adenosine-5-triphosphate, or ATP. CoQ10 is an essential part of the electron transport chain used to make ATP. And the good news is an independent US based laboratory, Comsumerlab.com found USANA's CoQuinone contains its labelled amount of CoQ10. If you are looking for a product that delivers the exact amount of CoQ10 to your body, then USANA CoQuinone is the right choice.
Unlike many energy drinks, USANA Rev3 Energy contains natural herbs, such as Korean ginseng and rhodiola rosea and has no artificial flavours and sweeteners. It gives you the energy boost without the crash-and-burn. Check out websites and social media sites dedicated to Rev3.

With the great partnership of Rev3 and CoQuinone to make you feel the best you can possibly feel, what more could you ask for this winter!
Modern life can be hectic. Research shows people work more hours than ever before to earn enough to give their family a good life. Even on weeknights and weekends we have little time to relax. Friends, family, housework, community, church, and sport – all these things command our time and attention. It's no wonder we feel pulled in 8 directions at once!
A recent article on the USANA’s website, explains that stress is one of the major health concerns affecting families today. Many different factors can cause stress: deadlines at work, a sick relative, tension at home, or simply having too much to do and no time to do it.
Stress doesn't just affect you – it affects your whole family. If you're feeling stressed, you become more irritable, you sleep less, you may lash out in anger and have more accidents than usual. You might not have any time to play with your children or enjoy time with your spouse.
It's time to break out of the cycle of stress and invest in yourself. Investing in yourself means taking the time – even if it's only 5 minutes a day – to relax, take a deep breath, and think about what makes you happy. It could be as simple as throwing a rugby ball around with your kids, or preparing and eating a delicious, healthy meal, or going for a run around your neighborhood at sunset.

If you're happy and healthy, you send out positive vibes to those around you, and your whole family benefits from your improved health.
So how do you keep healthy in this hectic world? By exercising regularly and giving your body the nutrients it needs. Most of us can't get the vitamins and minerals from food alone – according to the New Zealand Nutrition Foundation, most New Zealanders don't get enough fiber, but what about zinc? Calcium? Iron? These are all needed to nurture a healthy body and mind.
If you're not getting what you need through your food alone, taking USANA supplements will make a real impact on your life. With the right balance of daily nutrition, you'll feel fitter, calmer, healthier and happier.

Though it has been a couple of months since the nightmare earthquake happened in Christchurch, the devastation to families, businesses, the infrastructure and the environment will take longer to recover. Where possible, USANA has provided a helping hand to those who have lost everything. We got involved with A Helping Hand for Christchurch with Sensé body care packs and Nutrition bars. We have also been working on initiatives to support the recovery efforts and accepting the advice and input from USANA Associates.
We recently received a letter from USANA Associate Ken Roy and partner Sue Kelly, who are from Lyttelton, a place located in the Christchurch area that has been badly affected by the earthquakes. The letter is heart-warming and had a great impact on everyone we are sure you will be touched too!
“Dear USANA,
Hello from Lyttelton, New Zealand.
We are a small town perched on the edge of an (hopefully...) extinct volcano, very close to the epicentre of some of the most violent earthquakes recorded in recent times. It has been an interesting ride since September 2010 when it all started.
At that time we were living in a 90 year old brick stables - felt like it was coming down - but it was pitch black and the torch had other ideas - so we rode it out.
Pictured above a collapsed building in Lyttelton
Couldn't believe we survived, and our old building seemed virtually unaffected. The noise had been so deafening, we were convinced the place was disintegrating, yet in the light, it was mostly intact.
There were nerve wracking weeks of aftershocks that followed. We moved our bed to another part of the building, and felt somewhat reassured. It seemed we had survived an earth shattering calamity with nary a scratch.
We were cut off from many normal services, but were extremely happy that we had reserves of USANA stuff to carry us through. I felt it was very important that we should not ignore health considerations whilst under so much stress.
As things were settling down, we began trying to resume our normal lives. The centre of our city was mostly a disaster area, but life was flourishing in the suburbs, so we concentrated our attentions there, and got on with it.
The February 2011 quakes were a huge setback. Many buildings fell down, and our stables began to do so while I was still in them. Needless to say, I did not loiter there, and devoted my attention to helping others who were in more serious condition.
On my return, it was obvious that the building had suffered much more trauma this time, and we were forced to evacuate it. What had been our home and work premises were now dangerous to be in. So began several weeks of recovering possessions, having to ignore the signs that prohibited us from entering our own home.
I spoke with engineers, and tried to engage their humane values, but at the end of the day, we were forced to become law breakers in order to salvage our lives.
With the aid of many wonderful friends and USANA Associates, we secured most of our belongings, and were able to pack them into various garages around the suburbs. Transport was difficult as many roads were impassable, but we strove to overcome those obstacles, and we endured.
Having stamina and health was paying great dividends.
Forced to share housing with extended family was humbling, but also extremely fortuitous. We were very grateful to have found a roof and a dwelling that had survived.
It was hard to operate a business with such limited services, and with my resources so scattered. Despite that, as people began to rebuild their lives, my services were in ever greater demand. It felt good to be engaged in the service of everyday people who had survived such an ordeal.
On Monday 13th June, the world fell apart again. We had survived two major disasters - a third seemed far beyond the realms of possibility.
But here it was.
Two major earthquakes within an hour of each other. No sooner were we picking ourselves up and congratulating each other on riding out another horrendous shake, than along came the bigger one, and all was again undone.
Buildings that may have been salvaged were destroyed. Kitchens were emptied yet again, as crockery and foodstuffs mingled on the floor. For many folks, new replacement items were dashed to pieces along with the remainder of the old. Soul destroying stuff.
For a day we were shell-shocked and disbelieving.
The following day we finished cleaning up, while bracing ourselves against the continuing explosive aftershocks that rocked everyone and everything.
Today we are trying to make sense of it all, and finding some small pleasure in grouping together and making the human aspects the most important ones.
Our lives have been repeatedly trashed and torn asunder.
Our hearts are strong, and we embrace our survival.
The USANA health we enjoy has preserved us from any sign of health issues regardless of the fact that our water supply has been contaminated, and our normal level of hygiene has been disrupted by intermittent services and food supplies.
It seems incredible that we still have internet connections while many still have no water or sewerage, and yet, that is the reality.
Our September USANA Autoship finally arrived one month after its due date, and our subsequent orders have mostly arrived on time. It has been a time of great contrast, and yet we face it all with renewed confidence that life will prevail, and things will return to normal one day. That day may yet span a decade.
Thank you to all who expressed concern for our welfare, and thank you USANA for your most excellent products and training.
I will admit that I have lost my mojo for pursuing business right now, and my target audience has mostly adopted a survival mentality. I would love to be able to show them all what a huge difference optimum health does for one's survival in these times - but there is a little too much resistance to any form of sales approaches just now.
It will come.
Many thanks to you all.”
Ken Roy and Sue Kelly
Wow, what a moving story! We wish you all the best on the road to recovery. And you are not alone, we will always be around to support you.

In our previous blog: Running a Successful Business Event, we talked about some tips on how to give a good presentation. Now, we’d like to talk about being able to deliver a great testimonial to engage your audience. It seems like a rule of thumb for success in all businesses – we share stories because we want to influence people. Once people are inspired, they will make a commitment to your business, right?
You might think, yeah, yeah, it’s easy to say, but hard to do? We hear you! Nobody is born an excellent presenter. We have heard so many times “I am not a good presenter, because I am too shy to talk in public…” But if having the courage to talk in front of people and powerfully share your story (or someone else’s) was what you needed to develop your business, would you still use your shyness as an excuse?” I will choose to face it and defeat it, because I know that’s my weakness and I have to overcome it, no choice!”
Where should we start?
The good news is USANA Australia is running regular Testimonial Trainings called Your Millionaire Minute to help Associates learn to deliver a powerful and effective one minute USANA testimonial. The first training was held on 17th of May and we had a great number of people turn up. People wrote their scripts on the spot, practised their testimonials and got coached on ways to improve. Heaps of wonderful USANA stories were told and tips were shared.
Attendees were given a handout which included tips such as:
- Understand that a share has a structure – beginning, middle and end. Make sure it is a story with a point. Know what your point is and make sure it’s aligned with the intention of the evening
- Relax as quickly as you can so the audience can relax
- Find a way to generate energy and enthusiasm in your speaking (practice in the mirror, or do some physical exercise, which I find is very helpful)
- Be aware of your gestures, use them to enhance your message, minimise fidgeting, stand with good posture
- Engage your audience, learn to make proper eye contact, smile, welcome them into your heart
- Dress code – always professional business attire
- Use simple language, avoid jargon
……
Well, will have to stop here, as we would like you to come to the training and find out the rest tips yourself. To find out more, call Glenda Rope at the USANA head office in Sydney on 02 9842 4500.
Going online as a USANA Associate and promoting your business using social media opens up the possibility of creating your own unique personal business. Since being a USANA Associate is all about network marketing, and social media is all about building your network, we're putting together a series of blogs on using social media for your USANA business.
Social Media: An introduction

The web used to be all about information. If you wanted to learn about the Treaty of Waitangi, or where to find a certain product, you could look it up and find a webpage with all the information you needed.
But now, we don't just use the web to find information, we use it to interact. Now, we might find a Treaty expert on Twitter and ask them what we want to know, and when we're finished, we might write a blog or upload a YouTube video about what we've learned.
We don't just buy a product from a company, we then tell all our friends about it, post a video of us using it, and connect with other people who've brought the same product and share our experiences.
This is the world of social media, and it's awesome.
Social Media has changed the way people discover, learn, share and evaluate news, information and products. And social media can help you spread the word about USANA products and business and help you to build up your USANA team.
Using social media such as blogs, discussion forums, video and photo sharing, chat and social networks like Facebook and Twitter, you can create a network of people who are keen to interact with you. They comment on your blog posts, re-tweet your Twitter updates, and "like" your Facebook status. They tell people in their networks about you, and your network grows bigger and bigger.
Now, you can easily contact a whole network of people interested in hearing about USANA products. You can use social media to attract new customers, strengthen relationships with existing customers, network with other Associates and invite them to attend an event.
How will you do this? Well, keep reading the USANA blog and we'll give you heaps of tips for using social media to help with your USANA business.
Editor’s Note: Though social networking is a fun and exciting environment, it is important to remember to stay compliant within USANA’s policies and procedures. Download ‘Social Media Dos and Don’ts’ here.
The countdown for USANA’s Women In Business 2011 is on! Are you hesitating on whether to attend? Is something holding you back from giving yourself an opportunity to achieve real health and wealth? Your age? Your background? Your education? Well, in our previous blog, we mentioned that no matter what situation you are in, this event is for you. As a matter of fact, this is the glamour of the USANA business – USANA offers a business opportunity for almost everyone, at any time.
One of the key speakers for the event is Mary Ma, who is a very successful USANA Associate. She has a degree in Software Engineering, totally different from nutrition! However, not long after her graduation, when her mother-in-law first introduced USANA to her, Mary was amazed by the changes USANA Sensé brought to her skin and she just fell in love with USANA! Like lots of other Asian ladies, family is always the #1 priority for Mary, and the home-based USANA business is the ideal business for more time with her family. The strong desire to keep herself and her family healthy ‘forever’ is the real motivation for choosing the USANA business in the first place. Mary will be presenting in Melbourne only.
Another key speaker, also an Asian lady, is from a highly successful nursing background. Josie Tong’s reason for growing a business with USANA is this: “When I was introduced to USANA, I was preparing to launch my own Nursing Agency. At that time, I had built up a new office and spent thousands of dollars to market my new business. But one morning at 2am, I suddenly realised that the new business would keep me tied to the phone 24/7, therefore, I would have no time for my family! The USANA business enables me to be my own boss (because I love working for myself), and most importantly, gives me the flexibility to work around my kid’s schooling and other activities. So I decided to go with USANA!” Josie is a Gold Director and will speak in the Sydney WIB event.
Amazingly, talking about the changes that they experienced in their lives as women in business, both Mary and Josie say that of all the benefits of owning their own health business, being financially independent and gaining self confidence are the two most valuable!
The most impressive words that Josie said to us are: “If Carmen, Fiona, Paula and other leaders can run the USANA business successfully, why can’t I?” Exactly, why can’t she?
And why can’t you?
Are you looking for an event that includes almost everything – warm family welcome, fantastic recognition, social networking, moving but inspiring stories, all the answers about USANA and your USANA business?
Sounds impossible?
If your answer is yes, we are glad to tell you, USANA does have such an event which covers everything you want! And this event is USANA’s Connect4Success Night.
The inaugural Sydney’s Connect for Success event was on last night in the Wentz Theatre of USANA Head Office, and amazingly, we had a house full of Associates and guests. Brenda Rogers, USANA’s newly appointed Training and Development Manager, went through a list of people who recently rank advanced. We then had the very first exciting presentation delivered by our new Vice President of Pacific Region, David Mulham.

What really stole the show for the night was Christina Tseng’s speech. She shared with us her USANA experiences and how they have shaped her. It was the most engaging moment that left everybody with practical wisdom for succeeding in life and in business with USANA. No wonder Brenda describes her as one of the most impressive speakers, Brenda’s seen in USANA!

If you missed last night’s event, that’s totally ok. We will have the same event held every month for you. And we also have all those lovely photos here for you:

World Environment Day is on 5 June every year. It is a day that brings up awareness of the environment and also, a day that everybody can make contribution to the ‘big family’ that we live in.
Here at USANA, we want to set an example for our customers and Associates that effective health management begins with caring for the environment. Without taking the health of our natural world into consideration, we cannot hope to improve the health of those around us.
USANA is dedicated to reducing our environmental impact and being responsible citizens of this planet. We're not only creating the highest quality, science-based health products on the market, but we're doing so with minimal environmental impact.
Here's what we're doing to protect, preserve and promote the integrity of our environment:
- We've implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) – this is the first step for any company looking to decrease their environmental impact. Our EMS covers our responses to various environmental factors, from issues of sustainable energy and renewable resources, to our manufacturing processes and treatment of waste, right down to decreasing paper wastage in our offices and encouraging recycling.
- The USANA EMS is a model in our industry – we're not only meeting all current environmental regulations, but we're exceeding them.
- We continually refine and adapt our EMS as new research and techniques become available.
- We provide training for employees and Associates on managing resources effectively, and offer incentives for carrying out our environmentally friendly policies.
- We're dedicated to reusing, reclaiming and recycling our raw and manufactured materials and resources.
- We actively strive to reduce our carbon footprint and look for alternative and are embracing renewable energy sources.
- We're increasingly using web-technology and content management to bring information to our customers and associates, rather than relying on paper.
- We regularly upgrade and develop our products to make the best use of available resources and minimize environmental impact.
At every stage of our process – from raw processing to manufacture to distribution and marketing, we're striving to create a more efficient, environmentally aware business. At USANA, we don't just increase the health of individuals – we're contributing to a cleaner, healthier planet.
What have you contributed to yesterday’s World Environment Day?
Introducing Fiona-Jamieson Folland, a key speaker at USANA’s Women In Business 2011
From our previous blog, 16 USANA Associates in 16 Weeks, we can easily tell that Fiona-Jamieson Folland, one of our successful USANA leaders, is an amazing woman who will never fall over in front of challenges. From a classical guitarist, a sailor, to a private pilot and a certified aerobics instructor, Fiona has always been inspired to follow her heart.
Fiona’s passion for health blossomed during her studies to become a Doctor of Osteopathy, and her commitment to helping others solidified at the age of 21, on her father’s death from a heart attack.
When a serious accident left her temporarily wheelchair bound, she realized that to secure her financial future, she must develop residual income streams. A year later she discovered USANA. She was impressed with Dr. Wentz’s background, and realized she shared his vision to help people make positive health change. She made up her mind to help others benefit from the quality USANA nutritionals and develop a second income at the same time.
So where is she at now? She loves being her own boss - she loves choosing where and when she works as well as who she works with, especially how much income she decides to create!
And in terms of balanced-life, inspirations, success and challenges, Fiona has her own say:
Q: How do you keep your life balanced?
A: By doing my best to commit myself in the areas of my life that are my priorities, rather than all work, for example. My health and general well being need to be at the top of my list every day. Exercise and great nutrition are vital for me, plus regular therapeutic treatments, and living in a health environment. Learning to say no is also important!!
Q: What changes have you experienced in your life with as a woman in business?
A: Lots of them:
- Learning to trust myself, including my instincts and intuition.
- Letting myself dream again – set big goals and going after them.
- Learning about the different vehicles available to reach my goals – and that residual income streams are what I’ve decided to focus on building. Having run 5 of my own traditional businesses prior to USANA, I now know that for cash flow – nothing beats USANA’s network marketing model.
- Learning to prioritise my time, and realise what’s important in my life.
- Learning to work with people, and becoming more humble and patient in the process.
- Accepting that it’s not about perfection, it’s about progress.
- Accepting that I deserve to receive abundance and letting it in! Seeing our income increase by a factor of more than 200 times.
Q: What or who inspires and motivates you to keep moving forward?
A: Creating and living my ideal lifestyle with Chris (my husband), family and friends, including having the resources to give back. The biggest driver for me is to help others to reach their personal goals.
Q: What do you believe are the qualities for success in business?
A: Success in business – vision and clear goals, passion, drive, courage, self-honesty; Willingness to follow a business plan to get there, working with a no-nonsense coach who has what you want and can show you the way to get there; Surrounding youself with a team of like-minds (including those who disagree!); Humility to step outside ones comfort zone, repeatedly.
Q: What advice would you give to other aspiring women throughout the world?
A: Open up your mind to what you really want, and have the courage to pursue it. Persist to find the vehicle that can truly help achieve your goals. Follow your passion and enjoy the process.
Q: What has been the greatest challenge?
A: Getting over myself, my ego and sense that things revolve around me and my needs, instead focusing on others. Within USANA business, the greatest challenge is duplicating success via effective training and inspiring leadership within our USANA team.
