A most aptly named event organized by USANA Associates in Perth, Western Australia. USANA indeed raised the bar that evening for their fellow Associates and guests with USANA Sponsored Athlete and Olympic Gold Medalist Steve Hooker featured as the major star of the night.

Steve Hooker was giving speech Other speakers who spoke to 200 people in the room (more than half of whom were guests); Geoff Richards, one of Australia’s top personal trainers, Saree Hewlett, a physiotherapist who has incorporated USANA supplements into her Pilates and Physio practice, businessman Darren Berson who shared his story of an impressive 23 kg weight loss on the USANA RESET program, and James Roberts, a triathlete who trusts USANA supplements and Rev-3 to help him perform at his best during rigorous Iron Man events & lastly, Michael Zaballero, one of USANA’s Network Development Managers who represented USANA Corporate on the night.

Mostyn Farmer, a USANA Associate at the event talks about his experiences..
From the moment I arrived, you could tell tonight was going to be special… By the time the doors opened the room was packed full of USANA associates and their guests. The excitement had reached fever pitch by the time Steve Hooker arrived! The highlight for me from his talk was when he described his greatest moment of learning at the Athens Olympics defeat during which he experienced an insight into the journey needed to win a Gold Medal. What a champion, what a great person and what a fantastic Ambassador for a great company USANA!
Feedback from other Associates and guests ranged from ‘awesome’, to ‘inspirational’, to ‘brilliant’.

We hope you are also inspired to hold your own events and SHARE the USANA message of true health and true wealth…tell us if you do and we will be sure to feature you in our blogs and newsletters.
If you look at the paintings and think they are masterpieces displayed in an art gallery, then you are wrong. These paintings are masterpieces, but are painted by USANA Associate leaders and the corporate staff from the USANA Australia office, during the artwork workshop of USANA Annual Leadership Seminar 2011! While we had a great success on sharing views and ideas with each other and built up the confidence in pushing the USANA business forward, the art competition rocked the whole event! It not only strengthened the bond of USANA staff with Associates, but also demonstrated the fact that team building is the very core of a success, no matter what the success is.
In the four groups, every member agreed on the theme, committed in the project and made things happen – That was how the four wonderful paintings were born. It sounds so much like the USANA business – In USANA business teams, every member understands why they are chosen to participate and knows that being part of the team will benefit their career as well.
Let’s take a detailed look at the paintings as each of them has its own meaning (from left to right):
Artwork One – This painting pictures the “people” of USANA and how they interact with each other. They are all part of one big team, and the Essentials are the basis of USANA’s products.

Artwork Two – Showcases the flora and fauna of the Blue Mountains, and also draws on the origins of the environment through Australian Aboriginal design.

Artwork Three – The cave represents difficulties; The path is the way to success; Mountains are different levels of achievement; The top of the mountain is the bright future and the butterflies are lovely memories along the way. This is how Associates overcome difficulties when building their USANA businesses, and achieve their goals.

Artwork Four – The heart is the centre of this masterpiece, which reflects a warm USANA family.

USANA’s business opportunity allows you to run your own home-based business selling quality nutritional supplements, foods and personal care products. With the highest payout percentage in the industry, we’ve been able to help thousands of kiwis realise their dream of working from home, giving them more time to spend with family.
If you want to make your business a success, here are five tips from the USANA independent business owner pros:
1. Make your presentations and time with people memorable

Many people prefer buying from home based business owners because of the high level of personal service. When selling one-on-one you can't rely on the products alone to convert a customer - your presentation needs to be compelling, vibrant and memorable. If you're not good at talking to people, practice at home in front of a mirror until you feel confident. Partner with other business owners to pick up tips and ideas. Allow your customer to touch, smell and taste products. Throw in some humor and don't forget to smile!
2. Take advantage of all the resources available to you
We provide you with a start-up pack and access to our USANA Associates-only website, where you’ll have access to free training, web conferences, news, business management services, and the opportunity to share tips and advice with other business-people. Soak up all the information you can, and start your new business a step ahead of the rest.
3. Have a web presence
You could create your own website, blog, or mailing list, or use something as simple as social network site like Facebook or Twitter, online. Using email and social networking makes it easy for you to contact your customers and let them know about new products and special offers.
4. Treat Returning Customers Like Treasured Friends
A common business maxim is "80% of your business will come from 20% of your customers"; so treat those customers like royalty. As with any business, a customer can fall in love with the product, but if they receive poor service, they will look elsewhere if they are not happy. If you make your customers feel valued and important, they'll return again and again.
5. Practice makes perfect
It takes time to perfect your business skills. Don't feel discouraged if your first attempt falls through or your products aren't selling as well as you hoped– it takes perseverance and time to build a successful client base. So don't despair. Stick with it and you'll soon reap the rewards.

April this year seems to be buzzed by the Royal Wedding and the Easter/Anzac long weekend, but in the world of health, World Health Day is celebrated today, the 7th of April. This is a day when we all should stop and appreciate our health and spare a thought for those who perhaps are undergoing illness.

While world over, organisations and health groups are emphasising on the topic of Antimicrobial resistance, at USANA, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you – Prevention is better than cure! We believe in the importance of Optimal Cellular Nutrition for a Healthy Living.
This is what Dr. Wentz has to say:
"Chronic degenerative diseases are rampant throughout the world. I believe that with the USANA Health Sciences products, people can live longer, healthier lives and I'm excited about sharing this good news with others.”
Dr. Myron Wentz
Optimal health could be achieved by exercise program and steady supply of vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and other essential nutrients. Ideally, we should get these nutrients from healthy, varied diet, but consistently eating healthy seems to be a real challenge in today’s world, plus the fact that we will not be able to eat sufficient variety of food groups to meet our everyday nutrition needs. This is why taking nutritional supplements becomes important.

So what nutritional supplements shall we take? If you spend a couple of minutes to take a free USANA Health Assessment, you will find some useful health advice.
Let’s celebrate the special day of health together!
During pregnancy, your body undergoes all sorts of changes, not just physical, but hormonal too. You also need to be extra careful to look after your health, as everything you put in your body affects the health of your baby.
Keeping healthy during your pregnancy decreases your risk of illness and birth complications. Here are some ideas for keeping healthy while you’re pregnant:

Stop Smoking: during pregnancy, poisonous chemicals in cigarettes are transferred to your baby. Smoking while pregnant increases the chances of your child being stillborn or having serious birth defects. You should also avoid inhaling secondhand smoke.
Maintain a Healthy Diet: What you put in your body keeps you and your baby healthy and happy. Your daily diet should include two servings of fruits and five servings of vegetables, a serving of high-protein food, some low-fat, calcium-rich dairy and low-GI carbohydrates, to keep you and baby fit and healthy.
Brush Your Teeth: you might notice your gums become swollen and tender, and bleed when you brush your teeth. The pregnancy hormones cause irritation to your gums, leading to “pregnancy gingivitis”. Good dental hygiene can combat pregnancy gingivitis, so brush your teeth twice daily with USANA Sense Natural Whitening Toothpaste and a soft toothbrush, floss regularly, and see your dentist if you experience any pain
.
Take Vitamin Supplements: No matter how well you eat, you may not get all the necessary nutrients your baby needs from food alone. Essential vitamins and minerals during pregnancy include folic acid, iron, vitamin C, omega-fats and vitamin D.
Folic acid is particularly important during pregnancy, preventing spina bifida and other harmful diseases and birth defects. You can obtain folic acid from vegetables, cereals, certain breads and brown rice, or a nutritional supplement like USANA Essentials which contain 500 mcg of folic acid.
USANA’s nutritional products complement your diet to provide the daily nutrition and antioxidants needed for baby and mum.
Exercise: Keeping yourself active helps your body to adjust to pregnancy. Just 20 minutes of exercise each day will improve blood circulation, strengthen your spine and help you keep your figure after the birth.
Any exercise you undertake should be light and low-impact. Ask your doctor or fitness instructor what kinds of exercises are the best for you.
At USANA, we are continually racking our brains to devise new tools, applications or look for new ways in which to improve processes. Have you heard the saying’ if it ain’t broke, don't fix it’? Well, in USANA the adage is, ‘let’s break it and see if we can put it together in a better way!’
We decided our fantastic Health Essentials magazine was too good to be kept only for USANA Associates, staff and customers. A light bulb flashed and one of our bright sparks came up with ‘Eureka! How about offering it as an eBook?
What is an eBook?
Most of us are familiar with how eBooks work, they let you read an online publication just like a real book or magazine so you can flip pages, share them with friends and family via email, Facebook and Twitter or quickly flick to the page you want to read first.
Why are we so excited by this?
Because we can share Health Essentials with you and you can then share it with your friends. Health Essentials is packed full of features on health, nutrition, fitness, product profiles, specials and articles from expert contributors. Use it as a guide to starting and maintain a healthy lifestyle and share this with people you care about!
Health Essentials will also be available in Chinese from April 8, 2011.
