Counting down to the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games starts in 3 days! So make sure you've got your cheering hats on! 2 of USANA's Sponsored Athletes will be competing this year. Decathlete, Brent Newdick for New Zealand and Pole Vaulter, Steve Hooker from Australia! (just a little bit of rivalry for the most Gold medals!) If you're in New Zealand, curl up on the couch and switch to Prime at 1.30am and watch the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games! It's going to be spectacular being able to watching not only our countries elite athletes but USANA's Sponsored Athletes competing for Gold!

And Aussies, we haven't forgotten you, no matter what you do on a Sunday night, make sure you're ready, in front of the TV by midnight watching TEN for the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony and try to spot our champion Pole Vaulter, Steve Hooker!

USANA has a Cuppa for HeartKids

• Heart defects are the most common birth abnormality affecting one in every hundred children.
• 6 children each day and over 2000 a year are born with heart defects
• Heart Disease is the leading cause of infant death in Australia, accounting for approx 30% of deaths

Those statistics are heartbreaking...but don't despair...there is an organisation out there that raise awareness and provide support for people affected by Childhood Heart Disease.

HeartKids is an organisation that support families who have a child with Heart Disease. They provide support and raise awareness in the hopes of reducing the incidence of Childhood Heart Disease and to decrease the mortality rates for Childhood Heart Disease.

And good on them! Today, USANA held "Cuppa for HeartKids" to raise awareness and funds to help them continue their good work in supporting families that are affected by Childhood Heart Disease and continue to fund reasearch for a cure.



As USANA Australia's chosen charity, we are absolutely in love with HeartKids - we love the fact that it's not just about the disease, it's about the people and in line with our own vision and mission, we love supporting a charity that really cares.

Earlier in the year USANA donated $3500 to HeartKids and we hope to continue to support them in their great work. So today, not only did we have a cuppa, have some fun and have a few treats, we were able to do this all in the name of HeartKids and the great work that they do!

NOTE: Although nothing beats a Peanut Butter Nutrition Bar, a Chocolate Whey Nutrimeal or even some Fibergy...today we gave ourselves a special treat all for a good cause! :)

USANA drumming to the beat of Breast Cancer Awareness!

That's right folks! It's that time of year again! Sunday 31 Oct, 2010 is the Dragons Abreast Festival and USANA is dragon boating in the name of Breast Cancer! We love being part of this event! It's a great day out at Sydney's Darling Harbour AND it's all done for a good cause!

Why do we take part in Dragons Abreast? Because it's all about "promoting a message of education, hope and awareness of breast cancer."

And Breast cancer is a real issue in Australia and New Zealand (and around the world)! It's something that should be talked about!

Did you know?

• Each year over 2600 New Zealand women and just over 20 men are diagnosed with breast cancer.
• In 2006, 12 614 women and 102 men were diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia with 2643 deaths.
• 1 in 11 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer before the age of 75

Make sure you're on top of breast cancer - read up about it, know the detection methods

• Regular self-examination
• Examination by your doctor
• Screening mammograms
  

We've got a great team racing for Awareness this year! Our Sydney Corporate team supported by 2 Associates, Raman Chen and Alan Todhunter! It's going to be a great day on the water and we can't wait to continue to raise awareness for Breast Cancer!

The USANA Dragon Boat team will be training on the 10 October, ready for the race on 31 October so if you're in Sydney that day, join us on the Harbour and watch us stroke to the beating of the drum, and raise awareness for breast cancer!

RESET for Summer!

Summer is JUST AROUND THE CORNER! (or at least that's what we're telling ourselves). We're feeling a little lethargic from a cool winter but we're starting to break out of the winter cocoon. Now is the perfect time to RESET!

One of our own have just started RESET and from what he's been telling us, he's feel great! You met Michael the other day - he's our new Network Development Manager for South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria and Tasmania and he's been doing RESET for 2 weeks!

A past gridiron football player, personal trainer and avid camper - Michael is making a great change, he wants to get fit and get healthy!

Combining RESET with a healthy diet (Low GI foods) and Exercise (Michael LOVES cycling) - Michael is definitely RESET-ing his lifestyle and getting ready for summer!

Joining the USANA Million Dollar Club!

A big congratulations with Jian-Guo Shen and his wife Jian Fang Ding who are USANA's new Million Dollar Club members! What a great day for them! It's always a great day when we get to welcome new people into the Million Dollar Club!


Let's set the scene, it's a beautifully sunny day in Sydney, Australia. At 3pm, a car arrives, and 2 lovely people start walking out carrying LOTS of bags! Who could they be except for Jian-Guo and Jian Fang?! They had come to visit us and what a momentous day it was! The staff at USANA Sydney Corporate could not wait to go downstairs and welcome the couple!


We love welcoming people into the Million Dollar Club but guess what? They brought US gifts! What generous and kind people - they even brought us Moon Cakes to celebrate the Chinese Moon Festival!


A big thank you to Jian Guo and Jian Fang who came to celebrate joining the USANA Million Dollar Club and a BIG CONGRATULATIONS once again! It was great sharing that day with you!

It's so great to see people who are living their dreams and living the USANA difference because of the USANA opportunity they took up! We love seeing people enjoying True Health and True Wealth!

Michael Zaballero in the house!

A big welcome to the newest member of our USANA family, Michael Zabellero! The new Network Development Manager of South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and Tasmania!

In his past life he's been an track and field athlete, Gridiron football player and personal trainer. He has over 20 years of experience in sales and training and loves a good hike in the mountains, exploring the country! It is great to welcome Michael on board!

If you haven't met Michael yet and if you're in South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and Tasmania - make sure you introduce yourself! He's excited about meeting everyone and helping you to achieve those goals!

Would you recommend something if you didn't like it? The truth is that people wouldn't use or recommend something if it wasn't good - that's just the honest truth. The people are honest and that's what it's all about.

Athletes wouldn't use a product if it wasn't good for them, they definitely wouldn't use a product if it would hamper their progress so if they're putting their name to something, you can be sure that it's worth putting your name to.

Think about Steve Hooker, Captain of the Australian Track and Field team, World champion Pole Vaulter, currently in training for the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth games and recently featured in a 4 PAGE SPREAD in Ultrafit magazine! Here at USANA we're cheering for our Athletes especially as they approach the ames (Yes..one is from Australia and the other from New Zealand but a little friendly rivalry never hurt anyone and it's going to be great!) Let the countdown begin!

With Commonwealth Games starting on the 3 October 2010 in Delhi! We just cannot wait for all the excitement!

It's a beautiful sunny day in Sydney, a great day for a stroll. And it's an even better day because Millie Qiu is on the streets, looking out for people and seeing how she can help them out.

As she's driving, she sees a young pregnant woman walking down the road and stops for a chat. She asks this lady how her and her growing baby are doing and whether they are taking vitamins and what their future plans are after birth.

With only 9 months in USANA, Millie is an approachable, kind and caring person who genuinely wants to share her passion for True Wealth and True Health.

Great story right? How do we know about Millie? Because Millie was actually talking to a USANA staff member, during her lunchtime stroll. With only 9 months in the business, Millie's aim is to give away 3 Health and Freedom Solution DVDs a day and our staff member was to be the third.

Millie is so passionate about USANA and the freedom that it can bring, she's loving the Health and Freedom Solution DVD and she's loving life.

Health and Business Seminars in Sydney!

Not only was there 1 show in Sydney..it was so popular that we had 2 shows! What a great day! We've had such a great Seminar Series and we really wanted to thank you all of making it so fabulous! For your involvement and your enthusiasm! It was great to see the energy throughout Australia and New Zealand and it was such a great day, full of entertainment, great information and NEW PRODUCTS! (See our blog on New Zealand's H&B to have a quick read about the products)

We had some great presenters...like Robin Ellis and Deepika Sharma.

Even a special International visitor from the US, Mark Wilson, Executive Vice President of Sales.

USANA's own Brent at the Commonwealth Games

Here’s some trivia for everybody, ‘deka’ is the Greek word for 10 and ‘athlos’ is the Greek word for contest. Put those words together in the English language and you get Decathlon. A contest, or event consisting of 10 track and field events!

It’s enough to make you swoon! But USANA Sponsored Athlete, Brent Newdick is a Decathlete and he’s a good one at that! Born and raised in New Zealand, Brent was ranked Number 1 at the Australian Open Track & Field Championships in 2009.

We can’t say “WOW” enough when it comes to Brent! He is training extensively for this year’s Commonwealth Games in Delhi and is New Zealand’s medal hope for the 2012 London Olympics. Amongst his latest achievements, Brent came 6th out of 35 competitors and placed 2nd in hurdles with a time of 14.88 at the Desenzano del Garda decathlon (beautiful place in Italy).

Another USANA Sponsored Athlete to look out for at the Commonwealth Games, we’re currently tracking Brent’s progress as he prepares for the Games and will cheer for him from New Zealand loud enough for it to be heard in Delhi – GO BRENT!

USANA Athlete jumping to new heights…

Great smile, great form, great guy, and he keeps jumping to new heights. USANA Sponsored Athlete, Steve Hooker is a 28 year old pole vaulting world champion and he’s just done it again. Expect to see this man in the stars because his latest world-leading pole vault height of 5.95m for the IAAF Continental Cup in Croatia is sending him soaring into the skies!

Steve’s your typical Aussie, chilled and cool, cooks a mean risotto and he has his ups and downs like anyone. Just recently he faced some difficult challenges at competitions but the Gold at the IAAF Championships in Split, Croatia really restored his confidence, and just in time for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October! Steve is an elite athlete in the world of pole vaulting, a Gold medal winner, Olympic record breaker and 14th in the world to clear 6 metres! He is also the Australian ‘Flame’ track & field team captain.

Steve is NUMBER ONE! He is the first Australian man to ever hold both the Olympic and world titles concurrently; first Australian field athlete to win Olympic gold in 60 years, the first Australian male track or field gold medalist since 1968 and the first Australian athletics Olympic champion since Cathy Freeman in 2000. WOW!

And guess what? USANA is supporting him every step of the way! 6 years ago, an Associate introduced him to USANA products and he hasn’t looked back since! USANA is part of his daily routine and he feels the difference that USANA products make to his training and fitness regimen.

Ashleigh Neave raving about USANA products!

Ashleigh Neave is our youngest USANA Athlete and she is definitely going places. At 18 years of age she's presenting herself as a champion cyclist and showing the world that nothing will stop her. She's been racing since 2007 and races with Ramblers Cycling Club, the second largest cycle club in New Zealand.

In 2010 she's already won Gold, Silver, Bronze, placed 17th in the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Trials and all the while is still raving about USANA products.
